Dr. Desai is a neurosurgeon practicing primarily in Rio Grande Valley. His clinical focus involves the treatment of many spinal conditions including degenerative, tumor, and trauma. He also treats a multitude of cranial conditions including brain tumors, cerebral aneurysms, trigeminal neuralgia, Parkinson's disease, and traumatic brain injury. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. Dr. Desai grew up in Edinburg, Texas and obtained his bachelors of science in Biology at Texas A&M University in Kingsville, Texas. He earned his medical degree with honors at Texas A&M University Health Science Center in College Station, Texas. Dr. Desai then completed his neurosurgical residency at University of Texas Medical Branch. Dr. Desai has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals including Stroke, Neurosurgery, and the Journal of Neurosurgery. He has also co-authored the “Neurosurgery” chapter in the Sabiston’s Textbook of Surgery 20th Edition- considered to be one of the Bibles for surgical residency. He is a member of the South Texas Medical Society, North American Spine Society, and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons.
