Deep Brain Stimulation

Parkinson's Disease is the second most common neurodegenerative disorder in the United States. Neuromodulation has been shown to improve quality of life, reduce medication use, and better manage side effect of medications. Click the link below to learn from Manuel who underwent DBS with Dr. Desai.

Brain Aneurysms

Aneurysms arise from weak points in blood vessels of the brain usually at branch points. Sometimes these aneurysms can rupture and cause a type of stroke known as a subarachnoid hemorrhage. Dr Desai is the only neurosurgeon in the Rio Grande Valley who can perform both endovascular coiling or microsurgical clipping. Click below to hear Jose’s story who suffered from a subarachnoid hemorrhage due to a ruptured middle cerebral artery aneurysm treated by microsurgical clipping by Dr. Desai

Cranioplasty

Reconstruction of the cranial vault after acute insult such as traumatic brain injury or stroke often occurs in delayed fashion. Our preference is to use native or autologous bone for cranioplasty. In cases where this is not available, we have utilized titanium mesh and sometimes even custom made 3D printed PEEK implants. Click below to read Jesus’ story who suffered from severe TBI and underwent a decompressive craniectomy followed by a native bone cranioplasty.
